Executives

Rux Bentley grew up in Columbiana and is a graduate of Shelby County High School and Auburn University. Rux joined Rux Carter Insurance Agency in 1994, becoming the third generation of his family to work in the agency. In 1997, he received the designation of Certified Insurance Counselor.


Rux has been very active within the Alabama Independent Insurance Agent’s Association. Rux served as President of the Alabama Independent Insurance Agents Association in 2009-2010. He is the only agent in the state that has ever been awarded the Alabama Independent Insurance Young Agent of the Year twice (1998 & 2007). In 2006, he was named the Outstanding Board Member of the Year. He has been active on several committees: State Board of Directors, Young Agents (Chairman, 2000), Excalibur Foundation (Chairman, 2002), Legislative (Chairman, 2005-2006), Commercial Lines, Personal Lines, Nominations, and Education.


In 2013, Rux was selected to serve on the Alabama Center for Insurance Information & Research’s advisory board. The Center is an independent nonprofit organization housed at the University of Alabama that supports and promotes activities that strengthen the competitive insurance market in Alabama for benefit of a healthy economic environment and service to consumers. In 2011-2012, Rux was appointed by the Governor of Alabama to serve on the Affordable Homeowner Insurance Commission, which was charged with finding solutions to the insurance problems facing Alabama’s homeowners.


Rux was on the Board of Directors for the InVEST program through the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America from 2001-2003. InVEST develops a diverse pool of insurance professionals and informed consumers by educating high school and community college students on careers in insurance, financial services and risk management. In 1996, Rux participated in the inaugural class of Leadership Shelby County. He was on the original committee that founded Youth Leadership Shelby County and served as chairman in 2002. He served on the Board of Directors for Leadership Shelby County from 2000-2003.


Rux served on the Board of Directors of Court Appointed Special Advocates of Shelby County (CASA) from 1998-2009, and served as vice-president from 2000-2008. CASA screens and trains community volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children in court.


Rux is a former member of the Shelby County Republican Party Executive Committee. From 2002-2004, he served as chairman of the Shelby County Republican Party. Rux and his family are active members of Church of the Highlands. Rux is married to the former Amanda Sellers and has two daughters, Maddie and McKlane.

Casey Bentley was born and raised in Columbiana, AL. He graduated Shelby County High School in 1996, and later Auburn University in 2000. Upon graduation, he spent 7 years working as an Account Executive and Professional Recruiter for a National IT Services company in Birmingham, AL and St. Louis, MO. There he worked with a wide range of companies such as Bellsouth/AT&T, Boeing, A.G. Edwards & Sons, and the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis.


Casey returned “home” in the summer of 2007, and began working in the family business at Rux Carter Insurance. In the fall of 2007, he obtained his Commercial Lines Coverage Specialist (CLCS) designation from the Hartford School of Insurance. He was then selected to participate in State Auto’s nationally recognized producer school – Pacesetters. In February 2009, he completed his one year commitment to Pacesetters finishing in the top 10 of his class of over 40 agents across the country. In 2012, he obtained his CIC (Certified Insurance Counselor) designation.


He is an active member of the Alabama Independent Insurance Agents Association since starting in the insurance business. In 2011, Casey was awarded the Young Agent of the Year award for the state of Alabama. Since that time he has chaired and served on multiple committees within the state young agents association such as the Legislative Committee, Big “I” PAC Committee, Membership Committee, and Excalibur Committee. In 2013, he was elected and served as the President of the Young Agents of Alabama. In addition to his work with the State Insurance Association he has been active in the South Shelby Chamber of Commerce as well as serving as an Ambassador to the Greater Shelby County Chamber of Commerce.


He and his wife, the former Danette Dudney of Hoover, AL, have one daughter, Addison, and one son, Braden. They are active members of Riverchase United Methodist Church.

Shannon Buse, CISR, joined the Rux Carter Insurance in 2008, after receiving her insurance agent’s license. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Montevallo in 2006. Shannon is also a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting in 2012.  In addition, Shannon is a 2023 graduate Leadership Shelby.


In December of 2023, Rux Carter Insurance proudly announced Shannon’s promotion to Chief Operation Officer (COO). Shannon has been an integral part of our agency for over 15 years serving in multiple roles including Commercial Account Manager and Accounting Specialist.  Her incredible leadership and genuine care for customers as well as other team members will allow her to flourish in this executive role.  Her role includes managing the overall day to day operations for the agency, implementing procedures to increase efficiency, productivity, and growth within the agency, and helping to continue our legacy of community involvement.


She and her husband, Jason, reside in Calera with their two beautiful children.

Commercial Lines

Mandy Curry is a licensed agent and customer service representative who began her insurance career at an independent agency in 2001, in her hometown of Selma, Alabama.  She became a Shelby County resident in 2012 and joined the Rux Carter team in the summer of 2013. Mandy specializes in all aspects of commercial lines insurance. She is ready to help you with large commercial risks as well as small commercial risks.


Mandy and her family live in Alabaster. They are active members of Episocopal Church of the Holy Spirit. They enjoy boating, traveling and cheering for The Crimson Tide.

Becky Mims, CISR is a licensed agent and customer service representative who began her insurance career at an independent agency in 1986. She joined the Rux Carter team in the summer of 2016. Becky has over 30 years experience in the insurance industry and maintains a Certificated Insurance Service Representative designation. Becky’s primary role is serving commercial customers and she is ready to help you.


Becky resides in Jemison, Alabama. She is the proud mother of 3 grown children, Eric, Nick and Brooklyn. Her family recently expanded with the birth of her beautiful grandson, Collin. Becky enjoys spending time with her family, friends, reading and traveling.

Stephanie Craycraft is a licensed agent and customer service representative who began her insurance career in 1997, after graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Business. She has over 24 years’ experience in the independent insurance agency industry and was named Alabama’s CSR of the year in 2013. In November of 2021, she eagerly joined the Rux Carter Insurance family. She serves our clients commercial lines insurance and bonding needs.


Stephanie, along with her husband, Tony, and their three sons, Brady, Hayden and Cooper, reside in Alabaster. When not working, she enjoys cheering on her children in their endeavors, completing DIY projects, and running races.

Tori Hague is a licensed agent and customer service representative who started her insurance career in January of 2020. She joined the Rux Carter Team in 2022. Here she will specialize in Commercial Lines Insurance and looks forward to helping clients manage their everyday risks.


Tori is a native of Thorsby, Alabama where but currently lives in Helena, AL with her son, Tucker. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, and being outside.

Jacob McGalliard is a licensed agent and commercial lines account manager.  Jacob started his insurance career in 2016 and has worked in multiple roles within the industry.  Jacob joined Rux Carter in the fall of 2023 and will serve in an account management role assisting our commercial lines customers with their insurance needs.


Jacob is a native of Sylacauga, AL where he currently resides. In his spare time, Jacob enjoys spending time with family, riding his motorcycle, and Alabama athletics.

Personal Lines

Sherry Swain was born and raised in Alpine, AL. Sherry is entering her 19th year in the Insurance industry. Prior to her insurance career, Sherry spent 7 years in the Banking industry. She has been with Rux Carter Insurance for 15 years and currently serves as a Customer Service Representative with a focus on Personal Insurance.

Jacie Hutchison is a licensed agent and customer service representative who began her insurance career at an independent agency in 1996. She obtained her license in 1999. Jacie joined Rux Carter Insurance Agency in March of 2016 working in the Personal Insurance Department.


Jacie has been married to her husband, Jarrett, for 25 years.  They are the proud parents of a son, Gage. The family loves to spend time camping, kayaking and watching Alabama Football.

On July 10th, 2021 we lost our beloved George Bentley. He was our rock and we miss him dearly.

George Bentley

George Bentley was a life-long resident of Columbiana. He graduated from both Shelby County High School and Auburn University. George flourished in the insurance business for over 50 years, having started working for Rux Carter Insurance Agency in 1970, after graduating from Auburn. He purchased Rux Carter Insurance Agency in 1977 and led as CEO with responsibilities that included agency management and production.

 

George was active with the Alabama Independent Insurance Association. He served as president of the association in 1995 and was elected State-National Director in 2001. In 1999, he received the Alabama Independent Insurance Agent of the Year award.

 

George was also active in his community. He held the position of Chairman of the Columbiana Industrial Development Board. He also served as President of the Shelby County High School Athletic Booster Club, Board of Directors for the South Shelby Chamber of Commerce, and the Board of Trustees for Shelby County High School.

 

An active member of the Columbiana United Methodist Church, Georgie served as Church Treasurer, Chairman of the Administrative Council, Board of Trustees, Children’s Sunday School Teacher and on various other committees.

 

George leaves behind his wife of over 20 years, the former Sharon Benson, his six children: Sherri, Rux, Amy, Tommy, Casey, and Rachel, and seven grandchildren.
