Alabama’s Independent Insurance Agency is seeking to strengthen the state’s system of ensuring the drivers are properly insured.

Rux Bentley, president of the agency and Columbiana’s Rux Carter Insurance, said he and insurers across the state are supporting bills currently being considered by the Alabama legislature, which would overhaul the state’s system of verifying drivers have the minimum amount of auto insurance required by law.

If passed, the bills would create an online database of all registered drivers across the state, which would allow law enforcement officers to immediately determine if a driver is legally insured. > Read article online.

October 2008 –  8th Annual Monster Walk a monster success! COLUMBIANA - The Rux Carter team participates in the 8th annual Monster Walk held in downtown Columbiana. This community event is a celebration of Halloween where all the local main street businesses “close down” and provide treats for local area children. Our girls always go “all out” for this event every year.

September 2008 - Rux Carter honored by ARC and ARA for more than 100 years in business.

BIRMINGHAM– Rux Carter Insurance Agency in Columbiana was among six Alabama Centennial Insurance Agencies – agencies with 100 or more years in business in Alabama – honored Tuesday, Sept. 23, by Alabama Retail Comp (ARC), the workers’ compensation program for the Alabama Retail Association (ARA).  “For businesses to survive and thrive despite the dramatic changes of the past century is a remarkable achievement,” said ARC Fund Manager Mark Young. “It is fitting to celebrate the enduring contributions Rux Carter has made to Alabama and to the city of Columbiana.”

Alabama Centennial Insurance Agencies were honored at the UAB 2008 Retail Day Luncheon at The Club in Birmingham. Each received a plaque to place inside their office.
